A little UPDATE (part 2)

Well I went in yesterday and got my RhoGAM shot and an ultrasound done. As of Friday I was MARGINAL placenta previa and as of yesterday I am COMPLETE placenta previa now. The nurse said I would definitely be a c-section. So Ryker will be here before January 25, 2011, which Gmama Fran will be happy because she is going on a cruise during that time! Anyway, I have to go again on Thursday for them to check my culture (if it's in by then), probably do some measurements, and I don't know if they will do another ultrasound or not. Then we will just go from there after that.

A scare!!! (might be alittle grose and graphic) Part 1

Friday we had alittle scare. It started when I got up to get ready for work. I had alittle blood in my urine. I was thinking, "ok that's the first time (6:45am), let me see if it does it again and then I'll call the doctor" Well 9am rolled around and more came out when I went to the bathroom. By this time I was thinking I had some sort of infection (bladder, urine, etc)so I called the doctor's office and they couldn't get me in until 3pm because my doctor was in a meeting until then. Normally I think she is off on Fridays but she came in just for me! Anyway while waiting I worked and had a business meeting of my own and during that time the bleeding got to where it was excessively coming out! Then I started to worry! So mom carried me to the doctor's office and they checked Ryker's heartbeat and it was there and just as strong as ever, so that made me feel alittle better. Then Dr. Sheppard came in and examined my female area and pulled out a clot. I have marginal placenta previa.

There are 3 kinds of placenta previa:

Marginal: The placenta is against the cervix but does not cover the opening.

Partial: The placenta covers part of the cervical opening.

Complete: The placenta completely covers the cervical opening.

Placenta Previa occurs in 1 out of 200 pregnancies. It is more commom in women who have:

-Abnormally developed uterus

-Many previous pregnancies

-Mutiple pregnancy (twins, triplets, etc.)

-Scarring of the uterine wall caused by previous pregnancies, cesareans, uterine surgery, or abortions

OVERVIEW

Placenta Previa is a complication of pregnancy in which the placenta grows in the lowest part of the womb (uterus) and covers all or part of the opening to the cervix.

The placenta is the organ that nourishes the developing baby in the womb.

SYMPTOMS

The main symptom of the placenta previa is sudden, painless vaginal bleeding that often occurs near the end of the second trimester or beginning of the third trimester. In some cases, there is severe bleeding, or hemorrhage. The bleeding may stop on its own but can start again days or weeks later.

There may be uterine cramping with the bleeding. Labor sometimes starts with several days after heavy vaginal bleeding. However, in some cases, bleeding may not occur until after the labor starts.

TREATMENT

Treatment depends on the various factors:

-How much bleeding you had

-Whether the baby is developed enough to survive outside the uterus

-How much of the placenta is covering the cervix

-The position of the baby

-The number of previous births you have had

-Whether you are in labor

PREVENTION

This condition is not preventable.

COMPLICATIONS

Risks to the mother include:

-death

-major bleeding (hemorrhage)

-Shock

There is also an increased rick for infection, blood clots, and necessary blood transfusions.

Prematurity causes most infant deaths in cases of placenta previa. The baby may lose blood if the placenta separates from the wall of the uterus during labor. The baby also can lose blood when the uterus is opened during a C-section delivery!

Well I do have an infection so I'm on an antibiotic. I'm waiting on my culture to get back and today they called me and said I have to get to get a RhoGAM shot right away!! (I hate shots) I guess I'm getting payback since I haven't had any of the symptoms that everybody else has had during their pregnancies.

Maybe next time I'll have some better news!

HELPING GRANDMA MOVE!!

Well grandma finally got a new mobile home to get out of her....let's just say...outdated and old home! lol Mom, Dad, Colby, and I are traveling to Arkansas to TRY to get stuff washed, moved, and of course EAT! Well if any of you know grandma she waits til the last minute for things. lol We still have to go through her clothes, paperwork, etc so that the unwanted or what I like to say, "packrat stuff"..stuff she doesn't need, doesn't make it over there! Wish us all luck, cuz we are going to need it!

At least Grandma will be happy in her "NEW" and "CLEAN" home! Love you Grandma you deserve it!

IT'S A BOY!!!

WELL WE HAD OUR 18 WEEKS CHECK UP AND HAD AN ULTRA SOUND DONE. IT'S CLEAR AS DAY THAT IT'S A BOY! LOL HE WEIGHS .7oz RIGHT NOW! DUE DATE RIGHT NOW IS STILL SET FOR JANUARY 25TH! WISHED MY SCANNER WORKED SO I COULD GET PICS UP MAYBE FONDA CAN UP ME OUT WHEN I COME OVER!! WE ARE LEANING TOWARD DECLAN BRADLEY. NOTHING IS CARVED IN STONE YET THO!

BABY NAMES!!!

Well we don't know what the baby is yet, but are needing help with names. Derek and I are totally and completely different. I like more of the unique stuff and he is old school and traditional. For a girl we have decided however on a girl's name: Piper LeAnn. Piper because..well we just like it and LeAnn after his disabled foster sister who is special to him. For a boy's name I like Ryker Craig, because it's unique, different and just cool sounding. Mom said Ryker is after a prison! lol And craig is dad's middle name. Of course Derek doesn't like it. He wants something like Brandon, Michael, Derek, Bradley, etc. In my opinion those are dull and boring to me. However, we are coming around to the sound of Declan!?!? Plz spread the word and leave suggestions on my page.

I need help and no not from Dr. Phil!

I need help on using this blogger! Im so confused. I don't really know how to customize, add pics or little blinky things, or see when my followers update their blogs!

A little UPDATE

Went to the doctor yesterday and everything is great! Listened to the baby's heartbeat again, but no ultrasound. Derek actually was in town from work and got to go with me to the appointment. The heartbeat was between 166-176 which is strong. They say if the heartbeat is over 140 it's a little girl! But we can't really depend on that because my PA at the office, his wife is pregnant and hers was in the 150s and they are having a boy, so...we will just have to wait and see! I should know by August or September at the latest. Derek smiled from ear to ear when he heard it. We go back in about another month.

Derek to meet the parents

Well we went to my parents last night. They are going to have to take care of Calico(my cat) while I am pregnant, because I can't mess with the litter box. Anyway everything went well. Derek really liked them and got along with them especially with dad because they have go-karts/cars in common which was a big relief to me. I haven't asked mom and dad what they thought yet but Im sure there's no bad thoughts.

Derek's mother and father didn't raise him or his 4 brothers. They all lived on their own or with other people. So he doesn't know what close family is or what it has to offer! It's kind of sad but he has done well and worked hard to be where he is today.

Alot of changes in the past year!

SUMMARY OF PAST YEAR:
Got married, had surgery, separated, met someone, got pregnant! So hang on to your seats, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Well as some of you know a certain little surprise has come into the picture. Mother nature was late last month and I was feeling nauseated all the time and my boobs were hurting and growing(lets face it I was not blessed with boobs, so I know when they are getting bigger! lol) so on June 3rd I took not 1 but 2 home pregnancy test! And you guys know that is suppose to take up to 3 minutes to confirm........well it didn't! lol It took like 2 seconds! So of course I called a relative and no it wasn't good ole mom! It was her mom, my grandmother! lol When she answered the phone the first thing out of my mouth wasn't 'hello', it was "Are you ready to be a GREAT GRANDMOTHER?" She paused for minute and said,"YOUR PREGNANT?!" I said,"Yes, ma'am" and of course I started crying. Because most of you know I didn't want to conceive! Love kids but not for me to have 24/7! My motto has always been "RETURN TO SENDER" lol So I made my own grandmother swear not to tell my parents! I know I am horrible, but we wanted to wait until my doctors appt on 6/15/10 to make sure something was there!

6/15/10 appt-Me and my best friend, Karen, went to my appointment because there was NOOOOO way I was going by myself! So we get into the room and low and behold something WAS there and it looks about 8 wks old! In the ultra sound you can see the head, torso, and an arm! I was fine when they showed it to me, but when I heard the heart beat it was all over...I turned into a big ball bag! lol It was soooo fast and loud!

6/16/2010-Well me and my best friend, Karen,(yes I made her go with me to tell my parents, too! lol She's such a good friend and hey I needed some protection from my parents cuz I didn't know how they would react) So anyway we showed up at my parents' house unannounced and I made them sit by each other and I handed them a card and inside was a poem and the ultra sound! Dad says first "what is this?" That is such a man! lol Anyways and mom said,"It looks like an ultra sound!?!?" "Please tell me this is Karen's ultra sound!" We couldn't help but laugh and I said,"No it's mine!" And after that the rest is history.


THE POEM IN THE CARD READ:
I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss.
I don't yet a have a name.

Not yet can you hold my tiny hands,
Nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song,

6/17/2010-First thing when I got to work mom was already calling me asking if they could tell people and that we are going shopping for maturnity clothes, and get the nursery together, and wonder what she wanted the little one to call her...So I guess now that it has soaked in....I think everyone is EXCITED! I was the first granddaughter and now this will be the first great grand and i think the first great great grand but not sure!

Well I'm beat and this was alot to write so...I'll keep you updated and get some pictures posted. Everybody is wondering who Derek(the daddy) is, what he looks like, where he works, when they are going to meet him.....etc, so I'll get some pictures up hopefully soon!
